With the Holiday season on top of us once again, now it the time to start looking for more great holiday party recipes.
**STOP! You have found one!**
I like to cook, and even more than that I like to invent new stuff to cook. Thanks to the folks at Tabasco, my Christmas season will be a little more seasoned with these great Chicken Bacon Rollups, seasoned with Tabasco brand sauce.
I whipped these up in just a few minutes, and with just a few low cost ingredients.
First things first though. I headed on over to my local Target and purchased a variety of 3 flavors of Tabasco brand hot sauce. Although it is called “hot sauce”, there is SO much more to it than that. They variety of flavors that Tabasco offers is really impressive.
Once I was home, I was off to assemble delicious party food that would be sure to woo the guests at just about any holiday party. #CollectiveBias
There are 3 main parts to the recipe. The filling, the tortillas, and the dip. Below are the super easy instructions for all 3.
- 1/2 Bag of frozen chicken strips
- 1 Can petite diced tomatoes
- 1/2 tsp garlic salt
- 1 1/2 tsp cumin
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 6-8 slices of bacon, cooked and chopped
- 20-30 shakes of Tabasco Original Red sauce
- 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
- Also, 2 cups of cheese. I chose a colby jack/cheddar mix, but you can use anything you want here. Just a personal preference. I like the sharp cheeses because they have a little more flavor and add to the recipe.
- 1 package of medium size tortillas. I like the whole wheat ones. However, chipotle and spinach might be nice to add to the Christmas cheer.
- 1 package of Dry Ranch dressing mix
- 1 (16oz) container of sour cream. I used the low fat and it came out with a nice consistency.
- 20-30 drops of Tabasco Original Red
Despite the seemingly large number of ingredients, this is a very easy to make appetizer
1. First make the filling
Cook the frozen chicken strip in the vegetable oil for about 5-10 minutes over medium high heat. Once they have fully defrosted, add the can of tomatoes, cumin, chili powder, garlic salt, and Tabasco sauce. Allow it to cook for 5-10 minutes.
Once this mixture has mixed well, add the cooked/chopped bacon and cook an additional 10 minutes. This will allow all of the flavors to combine well.
So why the photo of bacon you might ask? Well why not?? This is my favorite part of the recipe!!
Lay 1 tortilla flat on a cutting board. Place a handful of your cheese of choice on the tortilla, and place 1 large spoonful of the chicken mixture into the tortilla. Roll the tortilla tightly and place 3 toothpicks, evenly spaced, through the tortilla to hold it closed. Nice and tight here will make things much less messy for your guests.
3. Now for the dip
Mix the packet of ranch dressing mix with the sour cream as directed on the package. For my mix, it was 16oz of sour cream to 1 package.
Then, SAUCE IT UP! I added abotu 20-30 drops of Tabasco Red Original sauce to my mix. However, just about any of the sauces here could be used. The Tabasco chipotle will be my pick next time around as I REALLY like it’s smokey favor.
4. Serve it up and stand back!
It WILL disappear in just a matter of seconds!
I asked my wife to try these out (she is a very picky eater), and within just a few minutes they were gone!
If you like you can also serve with your selection of Tabasco brand sauces on the side. A little on the top of each can give a little extra kick of flavor! OR Try adding different flavors to the dip for an even more interesting mix of flavor.
This Holiday recipe is sure to be a hit with the crowd. Whether friends, family, or that Holiday party at work, everyone will enjoy what Tabasco can do to bring a little #SeasonedGreetings to your favorite recipe.
This recipe makes about 12 of these servings. Because I only used 1/2 of the chicken, you could easily purchase another can of tomatoes, increase the seasonings, and make 2X that.
