We call our son the “car salesman” because he can talk anybody into anything (or try his hardest at least). Prime example: bedtime tonight (or shall I say EVERY night?)
He has always been a bedtime procrastinator, and is pretty good at it, with all of his excuses: “It’s too quiet.” “It’s too loud.” “It’s too dark.” “It’s too light.” But now that he has a TV in his room, “just one more show” is his latest excuse.
Even though he has a TV in his room, it only accesses Netflix, and with the parental controls we can keep up with what he watches. He loves Dinotrux and will beg for “just one more episode?” at bedtime. This is when he usually turns on his “salesman” voice and gives us all of the wonderful reasons that he should be able to watch another episode. “I’m just not sleepy and one more show would make me tired.” Or “I promise I’ll go straight to sleep after just one more episode.”
Now, thanks to the Dinotrux 5 Minute Favorites, new episodes of the latest hit, all in a nice little 5-minute package – We can tell him “Sure, one more episode, but that’s it!” and 5 minutes later he is hitting the bed!! He’s not sure what just happened, but it was a whole episode…wasn’t it? He’s feeling like he pulled a fast one on us when it was really us pulling the trick!
Who’s the salesman now?
All Hail to Netflix (and mom and dad)!
