Straight Talk Wireless is Straight Savings

This is a sponsored post, and as such I have received a phone, service, and compensation for my post.  However, all opinions are 100% honest, and are solely mine.

I was contacted a few weeks ago, and asked to participate as one of the elusive #StraightTalkTesters.  As with any other brand that I endorse, I first looked to see if Straight Talk was something that I, as a dad, would use.

Check !

Then, I looked to see if it was a product that would help me tighten my budget a bit.

Big Check !

Sign me up!

I will be up front and note that while this is a sponsored post, I so far, have been really impressed with Straight Talk wireless service and the phone that I received for review.  While some might lead you to think that these are “cheap knockoff phones”, they are far from that.

In fact, Straight Talk Wireless has the same phones and the same networks that you are used to with other carriers, with one HUGE difference.

The Price.  Yep.  Cheaper, WAY cheaper in fact, as much as 1/2 off what you are probably paying right now with one of the big name guys.

So, the service is only good in town?

NOPE.  The service is Nationwide on America’s best and most dependable networks.  It’s the same service areas that you are used to..

THE EXACT. same. one.

So what exactly does Straight Talk cost?

Well, Straight Talk is setup into 3 basic plans

The Unlimited Plan ($45)– While this is called the unlimited plan (and it is), * This is actually a 3GB plan at full data speeds, which is then cut back to 64KB for the remainder of the billing cycle.

The All You Need Plan ($30) – Unlimited text, 1500 minutes and 100MB of high speed data

The International Plan ($60) –  Includes unlimited* nationwide & international minutes, unlimited* nationwide texting, and unlimited* high speed data.

Another cool deal with Straight Talk is that you can BYOP (Bring your own phone). If you have a compatible phone (many are) you can bring your phone with you from another carrier to Straight Talk and use it on their service.

**Right now Straight Talk is running a special for BYOP devices **

If you BYOP right now, you will get 5GB of high speed data!  A HUGE deal if you are a big data user like I am (I’ve used over 3 GB in the last 3 weeks or so).

So I really encourage you to hop on over to the Straight Talk wireless website and give them a look.

It’s really easy to sign up, and you do it all from your computer.  No need to find a store and stand in a line for hours on end only to get a pushy salesperson.  I was able to setup my phone in about 10 minutes, in about 4 easy steps.

Step 1 is to activate your phone (on the left). If you are refilling your minutes/month you can click the left buttons and it will direct you from there. Since I had a new phone/SIM card I chose the left. One great things is that all these instruction came with my phone and SIM card. Very easy to understand and follow.

2nd screen is pretty self explanatory. I selected the 1st option as this was a new phone, but you would activate as appropriate.

Step 3 tells Straight Talk where you are so that you get a phone # that is local for you. Also, you setup a payment. You can either play for the month using a credit card, or with a straight talk card purchased at your local Walmart.

You will notice a couple of things above, I didn’t leave them out, they just don’t exist with Straight Talk.

  • Credit check.  Most other carriers do a credit check when you apply with service with them. Not Straight Talk.
  • Contract.  There isn’t one.. none, nope, zero.  Signup today and quit next month if you like.
